It was an incredible weekend for B78 athletes and for Recreation Integration Victoria. B78 athletes all achieved personal bests in the 8km and half marathon events at the Victoria Marathon weekend.
Head Coach Jasper Blake finished 7th overall in the 8km in just under 27 minutes. Judith Selman finished her very first half marathon in 1 hour 58 minutes after completing a B78 powered half marathon program. Judith did the TC 10km several months earlier in 66 minutes so she has improved dramatically. Tony Zarsadias, owner and CEO of The Condo Group set a personal best time of 1:28 in the half marathon and was thrilled considering his not so semi-pro hockey season started in early September. Amy Francouer is one of B78’s most committed Powered Programmers and proved once again that she is tough as nails. Amy is brand new to running and finished the half marathon, something she didn’t think possible a year ago. Congratulations Amy! Amy, Tony, Jasper and Judith were all members of the RIV Equalizers team
Perhaps the best news to come out of the weekend was the funds raised for Recreation Integration Victoria. B78 jumped on board as the lead corporate sponsor earlier in the year. RIV raised close to $10,000 for their programs, which help adults and children with disabilities get outdoors and get active; something many of us take for granted. RIV raised more money than they have ever raised in their twenty-three year history. B78 was proud to be part of such a successful initiative.
