I was reminded the other day that my best athletic attribute is being TOUGH. I don’t have a pretty track stride but have the grit and grind to run just as fast as those that do. My favourite has always been cross-country and the muddier and hillier the course the better! When the going gets tough (and when is it ever that easy!!) I’m always surprised by what you accomplish by putting your head down and just getting it done in training and racing.
10 Awesome Things About Kristina
What is your be word and why did you choose it?
My word is be TOUGH. I chose it right after doing a workout I should have never been able to do at the time but I wasn’t about to get my butt handed to me so I stuck my nose in there and made it happen. It reminded me that I was never a runner with a beautiful stride or the most talented but when the going got tough I would shine.
What is your major goal for the upcoming season?
I will be over the moon to actually toe the line this upcoming year. After 5 years of carrying, birthing and caring for little people and all that does to your body, energy and priorities I want to push myself again. Pretty excited to see if it is possible!
What goal did you crush last season?
I run my kids to daycare straight up Burnaby Mountain twice a week…over the moon I can do that. Not sure if that is a goal but every time we do it we feel like we have crushed it!!

My hardest workouts were always the ones that I was not ready for and they were probably the easiest workouts on paper. If I was in shape and in the right mental state the hardest workouts on paper were always the easiest to do…isn’t it funny how it plays out that way??
If you could have dinner with one person (living or deceased) who would it be?
My nana and grandma…both were tough ladies that lived through some very hard times and they just kept going. I really wish my daughters got to know both of them…they would have learned so much from them. I would love to have dinner with them now because I am finally at a point in my life were I could appreciate their strength as very independent women.

30 seconds…that’s probably not very good…
