- to live a life of integrity and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
10 AWESOME THINGS ABOUT LINDA
What is your be word and why did you choose it?
BE DETERMINED. I chose it because becoming the best you can be doesn’t just magically happen…it takes determination to eliminate excuses, to consistently (with intent) do the work and to make the countless daily decisions that eventually culminate in achieving your ultimate goal… and operating with integrity and a positive focus is essential for me.
What is your major goal for the upcoming season?
Finish top 10 in age group at an Ironman race.
What goal did you crush last season?
My goal was a personal best at Ironman Canada 2016 and I ended up improving on last year’s time by 1:17:41.
What is your favourite post race craving?
No specific craving but prefer savoury vs. sweet after a race.
What is the most ambitious thing on your life bucket list?
I’m a sports fanatic, so one of the things on my bucket list is to travel and experience live a number of major sporting events (i.e. World Cup Soccer/Rugby, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals, the list goes on). It became a bit more ambitious when I added Kona Ironman World Championship to the mix, not just to spectate but hopefully one day to participate.
If you were stranded on an island what book would you want with you?
Most people would list an inspirational book they’ve read but for me I prefer to write, so the book that I would want is my journal…I have captured memories, milestones, worked through issues and major decisions through my writing and would want to be able to document the experience if stranded on an island.
Chocolate or Vanilla Ice Cream?
What is the hardest workout you have ever done?
I’m fairly new to Ironman and just starting to learn what it means to really push myself in training, so although I’ve done many tough workouts, one doesn’t stand out particularly as being the hardest.
If you could have dinner with one person (living or deceased) who would it be?
I lost my mom to cancer earlier this year and miss her deeply…definitely with her.
How long can you hold your breath for?
Sitting here, first time try, 1:30.
