Summer Miles, World Championship Smiles: JP Poitras in Nice

Way to go JP! After a summer of consistent, hard training in the Okanagan heat, logging countless hours on the road and gravel bikes, pounding out the runs, and swimming in cold Canadian lakes, JP took all of that preparation to the Ironman World Championships in Nice, France.

The Nice course is legendary in the world of triathlon. The Mediterranean swim is stunning. The bike course is epic, with long, grinding climbs that take athletes high into the hills above the Côte d’Azur. And the marathon run along the Promenade des Anglais tests every ounce of grit, especially in the searing French Riviera heat.

JP raced with determination and focus, staying strong and steady all day long. He finished in a time of 13:43:20 with a huge smile and was absolutely stoked to cap off this year with a great race in Nice.

JP competed at the Ironman World Championships about a decade ago in Kona, Hawaii, the birthplace of Ironman racing. To return to the global stage years later, in a completely different but equally iconic venue, is an amazing achievement and a true testament to his commitment to the sport.

We couldn’t be prouder of JP, his preparation, his grit, and his joy in the process. He also shared some incredible photos that capture the energy, beauty, and magic of racing in Nice. This is what triathlon is all about, hard work, epic adventure, and great memories.

Congratulations, JP, you did it again! 👏💥
