Deborah Miller & Alan Cook: Grit, Heart, and Canadian Pride at the Gran Fondo World Championships
Few people embody the love of cycling quite like Deborah Miller and Alan Cook. This husband-and-wife team has spent the past year chasing one big goal and that was to represent Canada at the 2025 Gran Fondo World Championships in Australia.
Their journey to the start line wasn’t easy. From scorching summer rides to cold, wet fall training days, Deb and Alan showed up time and again, putting in the miles with quiet determination and a shared passion for the sport.
That commitment paid off. On a demanding course marked by steep climbs, relentless winds, and fierce international competition, both athletes rose to the occasion. Deborah finished 10th in the women’s 65–69 category, while Alan placed 30th in the men’s 70–75 division, outstanding results against the world’s best age-group cyclists.
But results only tell part of the story. What truly stands out is their attitude and the joy they bring to training, the perseverance through tough days, and the unwavering support they offer one another. Deb and Alan remind us that sport isn’t just about finish lines, it’s about passion, community, and the lifelong pursuit of doing what you love.
Congratulations to you both for representing Canada with pride and showing what dedication looks like on and off the bike. 🇨🇦🚴♀️🚴♂️
